I haven't been very good about keeping this place updated, but in my defence I haven't been good at keeping any place updated recently -- I've been distracted with D&D, and also with a few new games. Minimal fic writing has occurred outside of plotting stuff for winter gifting events, save for a couple of funny spin-offs to a pre-existing fic series of mine. All in all, however, it hasn't been a bad end of the year! It has been nice to have a few days to just relax and do whatever I feel like doing.

Going into next year, from a fic writing perspective I think the first event I may participate in is Febuwhump (via Tumblr). I also have my Kill-A-Character bingo card to be getting on with (an event set up by the 'Twelve Months of Murder' team on this site), and a couple of other fandom-specific bingo cards too. It is looking to be a fun year for writing.

It was only this year, looking back, that I actually started publishing my fics on AO3! I'm pretty proud of what I've accomplished on that front; 76 works, most of them from the SW fandom, and most of them one-shots. Not bad going for my first year of proper writing!

Putting down all my random ideas onto paper (or onto a screen) has been a joy. Now I just need to keep the momentum up.

After taking a step back from gaming for most of this year, largely thanks to my re-discovery of fic writing, this last month I seem to have found my passion for it again! I've played some more Inscryption, and then been thoroughly distracted from it by a few other games. A friend finally managed to convince me to play BG3, and given all the D&D planning I've been doing alongside it, it has been a blast. Definitely a game I'm going to play a lot more of in the new year.

I've also been playing a lot of Civ6, only enough so far to learn the basic mechanics and strategies, but still enough to remember why I enjoyed the last installment so much. It is different enough from Civ5 that I am enjoying learning it all over again, and look forward to sitting down for just a few more turns in the future.

I have a whole host of other games I intend to play in 2024, but first I definitely need to finish Inscrption. Here's hoping my next entry contains an update about the game! Good luck, future Bec.

Happy new year to anyone who might end up reading this!
