To anyone who might stumble across this page, hello there! My name is Bec. I'm in my mid 20s and use he/him pronouns. I'm involved in various online fandom communities, and my hobbies include writing fanfic and playing videogames. At the minute, I'm mostly focused on Star Wars (the Clone Wars and the Republic Commando game/book series in particular), but I also enjoy playing horror games and writing for horror in general, too.
Eternal fandoms include Doctor Who (2005), Critical Role (C1 + C2), Batman (all media), Hollow Knight, Alex Rider (books + TV series), Merlin, Star Wars, and definitely a few more that just aren't coming to mind right now.
My profile is majority public! I will rarely discuss anything personal on here outside of fannish interests, but if I do then these posts are the only ones that may be FLocked. Feel free to add me to your reading page for rambling posts about videogames and fic writing. If I've added you it'll be for fannish reasons or because I've encountered you through one event or another.

In your own space, talk about your fannish origin story.
This turned into a bit of a memory exercise for me (trying to figure out what order I discovered things in, and such), so be warned. It went from "fannish origins" to "entire summarised fannish history", oops!

Update your fandom information. Post your answer to today’s challenge in your own space and leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.
I recently updated my dreamwidth pinned intro post, but I added a few bits for the start of this year and tidied it up a little. I also added dreamwidth info to my main tumblr account, and typed up an introduction for my AO3 profile.
Looking forward to the rest of the Snowflake Challenge this January!

Next Year
I'm trying to compile my ramblings about all the events/challenges I want to take part in next year into one post.
First up is the
snowflake_challenge and also Whumpuary. Whumpuary has changed things up a little by mixing in whump community challenges (similar to what the Snowflake Challenge encourages) to their list of prompts for this January. I'm considering using the writing prompts to practice writing some of the characters in Skeleton Crew, and cross-post the community prompts onto this blog.
I've also decided to take part in the Fanfic reading challenge for this year! It seems like a bunch of fun, especially since I have been wanting to find a way to motivate myself to read more fanfic for a while now.
Febuwhump is also on the way, with the prompt list hopefully being released over the next few days, so I'll be making plans for that sometime soon. I think it'll bear the brunt of the Clone Wars muse as usual, lol.
In terms of year-round writing goals, I've joined the
inkingitout community with the goal of writing a cumulative 75000 words this year. Unsure if that'll be many one-shots, or the unpublished long fic that I haven't found motivation to work on in ages.
The last thing that I'm needing to plan ahead for is the Fannish 50 posts that I want to make. It shouldn't be too difficult whichever angle I end up going for in terms of SW d&d encounters or fic recs - I've recently started DMing for a SW d&d group that I can run the encounters by, and the fic recs would go hand in hand with the fic reading challenge. I just need to remember to keep on top of posting.

Fannish 50
I was looking for things to get me more active in fandom circles on dreamwidth next year and stumbled across the Fannish 50 challenge at
goals_on_dw, which seems like a fun way to do that!
I'll be trying to make 50 posts on... a subject that I haven't settled on yet, and may vary, but will probably be something along the lines of 50 indie/horror video game or whump fanfic recs.

Tell Us about a Personal Win.
This isn't so recent, but in October last year I completed a fic for each day of both the Whumptober event on tumblr and also the Haunted Clone Week event set up by clonefandomevents (this one at the end of the month). It made for a total of 40 prompt fills posted over the course of October. I'm counting the fact that I actually stuck with it (especially near the end of the month where I was creatively flagging) a win!

In your own space, create a fanwork.
This ended up being from a collection of fandoms, but here are my first attempts at making icons from a few of the games that I enjoyed enough to take a bunch of screenshots of (Ori and the Will of the Wisps, Oneshot, Horizon Zero Dawn, and Celeste):

I have a tonne of other games and screenshots that I'd like to work through now that I've figured out the basics! It was a pretty fun process, and in the future I'd like to try my hand at colouring and other fun options for editing.

Make a list of fannish and/or creative resources.
If you're a fan of the Clone Wars and looking for any official resources on the clones, then fox-trot's clone trooper lore tag on tumblr is a great collection of resources. They've been collecting together a bunch of different sources of information on the clones. Worth checking out.
In addition to this then propheticfire on tumblr has put together a list here of all the clone troopers (including legends and current canon) they could find, very useful if you're looking for a name quickly.
If you're a fan of whump then promptsforyourwhumpfic on tumblr has been collecting as many whump-related prompts as they can in this post here.

In your own space, share a favourite piece of original canon (a show, a specific TV episode, a storyline, a book or series, a scene from a movie, etc) and explain why you love it so much.
This was actually a very difficult thing to narrow down! There's so much I could ramble about for so many different shows/books/etc.
( Spoilers for TCW:Season 6 )

Search in your current space, whether brick-and-mortar or digital. Post a picture (a link to a picture will be fine!) or description of something that is or represents:
1. Something your favorite character would like
For context, my favourite character at the minute is Commander Fox from Star Wars: the Clone Wars (or at least the Fox that fandom has generated from his few brief appearances in canon). He'd probably like the chance to get away from Coruscant for a change, a visit to some planet with few cities and also few people around to bother him.
2. Something that makes you laugh
"To be frank… I’d have to change my name."
aka. anything punny in nature!
3. A fandom place you would like to visit
The Jedi Temple on Coruscant, a hub of life and learning.
4. A fandom creator (pro or not) you'd like to meet
My dear friend Pluto (sadly without dreamwidth), who I met online through shared obscure fannish creative interests but have yet to meet in person.
5. Something you find comforting
A cup of tea while I sit in front of the folder of many WIPs.
6. Something from a favorite TV series or movie from your childhood
The animated Justice League series was always a favourite! That one episode with the plant-creature that trapped people in their dream reality has always been the one that stuck with me.
7. A piece of clothing you love
The Star Wars merch shirt that I got at Celebration last year is probably my most loved item of clothing at the moment. It only has the Clone Wars logo on it, but I got it just before my friend managed to get me into the anniversary TCW panel, so I have some great memories associated with it!
8. A book or song with a color in the title
Thank you Metric for coming in clutch with this one! Gold Guns Girls is one of my favourite songs at the minute, very catchy and fun, a song you listen to in the car on the journey home late at night.
9. Something only someone in your fandom would understand

Ordered food, accidentally executed order 66 :(

Challenge #4
IceBreaker Challenge! Tell us about yourself.
Skipping challenge 3 for now, here are 5 things about myself or my interests that I haven't already mentioned somewhere on here before (to my knowledge)! Mostly in an effort not to repeat my intro post.
1. I enjoy playing TTRPGs! D&D 5th edition is the go-to, but when I first played the game it was with the 2nd edition advanced ruleset. Fun times. In addition to D&D, I've also recently been trying to get into Call of Cthulu with a different group of friends. Love a bit of eldritch horror, me.
2. Technically I have never mentioned that my favourite animal is a bat! Inspired by my love of the Batfam when I was a kid, a love that I have carried forwards into my life now despite me no longer keeping up with canon.
3. It's a tough call between a few different books, but I think my favourite book series is probably the Abhorsen trilogy. I have always adored the setting of the Lirael book. Who doesn't love the sound of a giant library full of magical (and also very deadly) things?
4. I collect Star Wars Black Series 6 inch figures! But only ever clone troopers, unless a figure happens to be part of a multi-pack alongside them. Toy photography is the end goal, but at the minute I mostly just have them posing in different battle scenes (or sitting on top of my PC watching me while I'm gaming, always an amusing image when I'm failing at playing the RepComm game or something).
5. I've always been a fan of both videogame soundtracks and just soundtracks in general. I remember the first instance of this for me, when the soundtrack of PMD:Explorers of Sky was added in as a bonus feature of the game and I would listen to it over and over (before this point I would literally reload and replay certain parts of the game just to listen to the soundtrack in the background). The Doctor Who soundtrack was also one of my favourites when I was younger, and I always wish that I could have made it to one of the concerts for it at the RAH!

Challenge #2
In your own space, set yourself some goals for the coming year. They can be fannish or not, public or private.
1. Complete at least one prompt bingo card! (Preferably the Kill-A-Character card, as this is intended to be a yearly challenge!)
2. As a follow up goal to that last one, my next is to complete at least one bingo line for each of the cards that I'm already writing for. One of the Star Wars specific ones is getting pretty close!
3. Finish playing Inscryption.
4. Again, as a follow up goal to the previous one, goal four is to start playing through at least 5 of the games that I've bookmarked in my 'to play' folder and note down my thoughts on them. In other words, to keep up with my gaming entries on here.
5. Going back to fic writing, my final goal is to participate in at least one of the "month of prompts" challenges that I also participated in last year.

Going to be playing catch-up for a little bit, as I only discovered this challenge today! As someone looking to discover more fannish communities, I think it looks pretty neat.
Challenge #1
Update your fandom information.
I've tidied up my stickied intro post and added a whole bunch of new information in regards to any ongoing interests outside of my current main fandom (Star Wars: the Clone Wars). I've also added a category for my favourite games to the section dedicated to gaming info, and also a section on profile access and subscribing.

End of Year Thoughts
I haven't been very good about keeping this place updated, but in my defence I haven't been good at keeping any place updated recently -- I've been distracted with D&D, and also with a few new games. Minimal fic writing has occurred outside of plotting stuff for winter gifting events, save for a couple of funny spin-offs to a pre-existing fic series of mine. All in all, however, it hasn't been a bad end of the year! It has been nice to have a few days to just relax and do whatever I feel like doing.
Going into next year, from a fic writing perspective I think the first event I may participate in is Febuwhump (via Tumblr). I also have my Kill-A-Character bingo card to be getting on with (an event set up by the 'Twelve Months of Murder' team on this site), and a couple of other fandom-specific bingo cards too. It is looking to be a fun year for writing.
It was only this year, looking back, that I actually started publishing my fics on AO3! I'm pretty proud of what I've accomplished on that front; 76 works, most of them from the SW fandom, and most of them one-shots. Not bad going for my first year of proper writing!
Putting down all my random ideas onto paper (or onto a screen) has been a joy. Now I just need to keep the momentum up.
( Looking back (and looking forward) at gaming stuff )
Happy new year to anyone who might end up reading this!

First thoughts on Inscryption (and DW)
Had a few days to figure out how this place works, and it seems to be going well. Found a few neat-looking communities. I was told that formatting posts and finding people on this site might be interesting, but it appears to line up with how I remember navigating the RP forums I took part in years ago.
I intend to use this journal to mostly keep track of any new games I play and enjoy (I like to ramble about them and this seems to be the perfect place to do so), and perhaps shout into the void about fic writing. When I'm playing games, however, I tend to be less interested in writing, and vice versa, so I'll probably only be posting about one thing at a time.
( Spoilers for Inscryption )
